Privacy policy

Last updated 6 November 2026

The short version The Observer FTP app doesn't collect anything about you. This website counts visits without cookies. If you email us, your email is used only to reply.

Who we are

Observer FTP is a Windows app for moving files between your PC and your servers, and ftp.observer is its website. In this policy, "we" means Observer FTP. You can reach us at website@ftp.observer.

The app

This website

Downloads

The installer comes from download.ftp.observer, a server we run, with requests passing through Cloudflare. Like most web servers, it keeps standard access logs: IP address, time, the file requested and the browser. We use them only to keep the server secure and to count downloads, and keep them no longer than those purposes need.

Email

If you email website@ftp.observer, we use your address and message only to reply to you. We don't add anyone to a mailing list.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Because the app sends us nothing, the only personal data we could hold is in emails you've sent us and in short-lived server logs. Our lawful basis for those logs and for counting visits is our legitimate interest in running a secure website and knowing how many people use it.

To make a request, email website@ftp.observer. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
